Respect, compassion, and empowerment are three words that strongly resonate with our experience at Healing Tides Midwifery. The whole team felt like a familiar friend from the beginning, not just to me but to my whole family (toddler included!), holding space for the many vulnerabilities that come up during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Their thoughtful care was professional yet genuine, and it didn't stop at the end of an appointment. I truly felt they were happy and ready to be there for me when I needed them, whether that be concerns, mentally hard days, questions, or a celebration buddy. Responses were thorough and timely. The nutritional counseling really changed my health for the better, not just during pregnancy but for the rest of my life! Knowledge is power, and this team is powerful.
A huge element I admire about Healing Tides Midwifery is that their approach is holistic, tending to the mind-body-spirit connection and what that means to the individual mother. In addition to being holistic, they are also integrative, working closely with local hospitals to make sure pregnancy and home birth are as safe as possible for the mother and baby. They are in your corner with information about all testing options and alternatives. They empower you to make your own choices and navigate what's best for your family on your terms! This is a huge lesson to learn when becoming a mother. To trust oneself.
As for the birth and postpartum, Tiffany was a light at both of my boys births. I felt so safe in her care, both physically and mentally. Healing Tides Midwifery was there during the best day of my life and treated me like an absolute birthing queen. Yes, I was the one who did the work of bringing my son into the world, but the comprehensive care provided prenatally helped me get to a point of total trust and surrender. After the big day, they were ready for the highs and lows of postpartum at any hour, making sure baby and I were both as healthy as possible. We felt so held and really enjoyed the in-home visits and continued care for six whole weeks during healing and establishing breastfeeding. It made all the difference in the tender, early postpartum period.
I wish every woman had the quality of care I received from Healing Tides Midwifery. They go above and beyond and are making such a big impact in this community through the lives of the families they work with. Especially ours.
I was blessed to have Tiffany assist me as one of my midwives at the birth of my fourth child. My previous three birth experiences had all been hospital births. There is no comparison between a hospital birth and a homebirth (when you have an amazing midwife to assist you such as Tiffany.) Sometimes I tell people that my homebirth experience is my Rolls Royce experience; it was truly amazing!!!! Tiffany met with me monthly throughout my pregnancy. When she came to visit, she always spent a lot of time with me, not just examining me, but actually teaching me. I learned so much about my body, pregnancy, birth, and delivery. It amazes me now how I could have gone through three other pregnancies so clueless. I continue to cherish the knowledge I gleaned during this time and hope to pass that knowledge down to my daughters and daughters-in-law.
I’ll never forget one moment of my birth experience. I was laboring and struggling. My husband was trying to comfort me, but it was getting really difficult. We had recently messaged our midwives telling them that it was time for them to come. During one particularly difficult contraction, I suddenly felt this strong, gentle, hand on my shoulder. I knew that it was Tiffany, I sensed her presence, and it brought so much comfort to me. My body immediately relaxed, and I knew that with Tiffany there, I could feel comfortable and confident to birth my baby. I have since this experience told Tiffany that I “imprinted” on her at that moment and that I will love her for life for that comforting gesture that meant the world to me in one of the most difficult moments of labor. Even writing about it brings tears to my eyes. I felt total confidence in having my baby at home with Tiffany assisting me. She is caring, careful, knowledgeable, and passionate about what she does. She is committed to her moms and babies and will do anything in her power to protect and care for them. I wish I could go back and have all of my babies at home with Tiffany helping me. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone I know. She is an amazing person and an excellent midwife.
I wanted a home birth from the beginning, however my labor process became complicated, and Tiffany was there for us the entire time. After two and a half days of labor with twelve hours of intense contractions, I decided to go to the hospital. I knew I needed to get some rest before our daughter arrived. Tiffany was at my house within ten minutes of me communicating with the team that I was done laboring at home. She checked my daughter’s and my vitals along with my progression and was extremely supportive in my decision. Tiffany not only coordinated my hospital transfer by calling ahead, but she also drove my husband and I to Coos Bay at midnight to ensure we made it safe and helped us get admitted. I was extremely grateful that she did drive us, as on the drive my labor became complicated, and she was amazing at coordinating my care. Upon arrival she gave a full rundown of my labor to the OB on staff. My labor continued for another 24 hours and during that time Tiffany stayed by our side. She got us food, water, and gave my husband and I every ounce of information that we asked for. In the time of pushing, I would say I “gave up” multiple times and Tiffany was there with encouragement every time. Upon our daughter's arrival, we had additional complications that resulted in her needing some oxygen and her vitals checked. I watched her move through the crowd of nurses and then I could not see or hear her. The nurses were telling me she was alright, but Tiffany knew what I needed. Tiffany was able to weave through the crowd and take a picture of my daughter to show me she was okay. Along with supporting me through birth she documented as much as she could during labor and our golden hour. I feel anything I say truly does not give the full spectrum of how amazing Tiffany was during our transfer and birth.
There is so much I could say! Having Tiffany at my first birth, a home birth, with my daughter was pivotal-a game changer if you will. She was my main source of support during 9 hours of labor, alongside Victoria. Together they led me through oceanic visions and grounded me back into my body. When I think about that birth it is Tiff who I see there as my rock. About 3 years later I became pregnant with my son, and I knew I had to have the same support. As busy as Tiffany is, she was there for me every step of the way. My labor was only 3 hours this time, but once again when I think back to that night I hear Tiffany guiding me back into my body, giving me the tools I needed to safely birth my son in the comfort of our home. I am in awe of the amount she can hold with such presence & grace. Her breadth of knowledge about prenatal care, pregnancy, birth, postnatal care, breastfeeding, family planning, & children is incredible. I look forward to learning from this wise woman & am so grateful she is in our community. I think of my midwife team as a family forever bound by trust & the amazing miracle of birth.
The first day I met Tiffany I went home and told my husband, "I would gladly let this woman deliver my baby!" ...I was worried that we would not find someone caring and compassionate, but Tiffany helped us feel safe and heard rather than just a routine appointment. As the pregnancy went on and labor came we were continually pleased with how Tiffany offered caring support and wisdom while always seeking to build us up with genuine encouragement.
She allowed me to birth how I wanted while lovingly supporting me when I needed it. I deeply appreciated her extra attention to my husband's involvement as well as her gentle care of my sweet baby girl. I was amazed at how she cared for us as people and not just as clients. She is well educated and experienced, but her genuine compassion is what makes her shine as a midwife. We will always be grateful for our experience with her.
Due to circumstances beyond my control I had multiple midwives my first pregnancy. On my second pregnancy my midwife asked if she could bring along a trainee and I'm so glad I said yes! From Tiffany's knowledge to her loving heart, she makes you feel so special, like you're the only momma in the world. I had her again with my third baby boy. When I struggled with hyperemesis, Tiffany and her mentor spent extra time researching causes, visiting and encouraging me. I'm looking forward to having her again in the future, hopefully to deliver a girl!
